Very beautiful portrait of an old woman. Very expressive and serene face. French school of the 19th century in the Courbet style. 1850/1870 after the hairstyle. Signed p.sallé top left and sallé on the back. P.sallé is a well-known French painter and present in several museums. 61*50 cm. Apart from the simple protective rod. No snags. Lightened varnish, micro retouching in the black background. Stretched canvas. Born on May 10, 1835 in Bordeaux, died in 1900 in Lyon. Painter of genre, portraits, landscapes; impressionist. He was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon with Claude Bonnefond, then at the School of Fine Arts in Paris with Hippolyte Flandrin. He exhibited at the Salon de Lyon from 1861 to 1889.
