The ulm stool, designed in 1954 by max bill, hans gugelot and paul hildinger for the ulm school of design, embodies the essence of functional and refined design. Born from a desire to create versatile furniture for students, this stool quickly became a symbol of the ulm school's pedagogical approach, combining aesthetic rigor and everyday utility. Its simple structure, made of untreated spruce and beech wood, consists of two vertical boards and one horizontal board, supported by a crossbar. This minimalist design allows the stool to serve as a seat, a side table, a stand or even a desk. Manufacturer: max bill, hans gugelot, paul hildinger for the ulm school of design, germany circa 1954.
