This remarkable tripod side table in brass and eglomisé mirror is a representative piece of the Maison Jansen from the 1940s, a period during which the famous Parisian firm excelled in the reinterpretation of neoclassical furniture. The structure showcases the characteristic motifs of Jansen: a central tapered baluster stem, an elegant tripod base finished with curled scrolls, and a top surrounded by a fine openwork gallery with vertical bars. The eglomisé glass plate (oxidised mirror), with its deep marbled and silvery reflections, enhances the whole by creating a perfect balance between the rigidity of the metal and the preciousness of the antique mirror. Founded in Paris in 1880, Maison Jansen remained for nearly a century the absolute reference for international interior decoration. Under the leadership of Stéphane Boudin in the mid-20th century, the house specialised in the use of polished brass and eglomisé glass to design refined furniture. These pieces were commissioned by high aristocracy, embassies, and prestigious residences (such as the White House or the homes of the British royal family). The solid brass, characteristic of their productions, acquires over time a noble oxidised patina. This side table is in generally good condition, the eglomisé glass is intact, and the brass shows its patina of use. With its balanced proportions (55.5 cm high), it will naturally find its place in an elegant living room, whether classic or mixing styles, serving as a fine end table or decorative support. A reference object, embodying the prestige of one of the greatest French decoration houses.
