Set of 6 antique slip asparagus plates

Magnificent set of six antique plates in barbotine earthenware, decorated in relief with bunches of asparagus and stylized foliage in shades of green, cream, blue and purple. Each plate has a scalloped edge and a slightly hollowed center, designed to serve asparagus in an elegant manner. These unsigned barbotine plates with asparagus decoration are characteristic of french productions of the late 19th century. Their style recalls the models of the onnaing, sarreguemines or lunéville factories.
