Vase, modernist, orange glass, designed by B. Świstacka, Poland, 1970s

A glass vase designed by Barbara Świstacka, produced in the 1970s by the Krakow Glass Institute, features a modernist form inspired by the tradition of Polish design craftsmanship. The characteristic, intensely orange colour with a deep, warm tone and mirrored surface draws attention to the synthetic, sculptural silhouette. The tall, slender body gently widens upwards, ending in a delicately flared opening, set on a bulbous, massive base. The defining detail is a single, spiral handle shaped from the same glass mass, emphasising the handmade nature and craftsmanship precision. The surface remains completely smooth, without ornaments, in line with the aesthetics of Polish design of the era, focusing on purity of form and colour. No visible signs of damage, restoration, or discolouration – the object is in excellent condition. Looking at this vase, one can clearly feel the voice of 1970s Poland: bold, optimistic, and using colour as a tool of expression.
