Dining chairs from h.p. Berlage designed for leiden university around 1900. The chairs are beautifully carved. Not a single piece of wood is cut straight. The solid chairs are in very good condition. A dutch design piece from a well known architect. During a visit to the united states in 1911, berlage was impressed by the work of frank lloyd wright (guggenheim museum) and other important american architects. Until the end of berlage's career, this american influence was clearly present in his work. Object: dining chair. Designer: h.p. Berlage. Mark: r.un.l.
