Large oval wall mirror in carved and gilded wood, in the Louis XV / rocaille style, probably made in the late 19th or early 20th century. The openwork frame features a highly detailed decoration of scrolls, acanthus leaves, shells, and flower bouquets, with a significant asymmetrical pediment characteristic of the rococo repertoire. The old gilding retains a warm patina, with wear, rubbing, and small losses consistent with its age. The glass is heavily pitted and oxidised, with significant areas of silver loss that give it a very decorative appearance; it remains usable as an ambient mirror but no longer offers a uniform reflection. A few small accidents and losses are also visible on the carved parts. Wooden back with a closing panel and an old hanging system. Dimensions: 114 cm in height × 66 cm in width. A piece particularly suited to an antique, wabi-sabi, or contemporary interior seeking the contrast of a heavily patinated gilded mirror.
