Bronze ashtray (700 g), stamped "wagons-lits cook", 1930s. At the end of the 19th century, the compagnie des wagons-lits was created, which ran the first sleeping wagons and restaurant wagons in europe and beyond, notably by launching prestigious lines. (orient-express, sud-express, transsiberian...) in 1930, the company joined forces with cook to create the first global network of travel agencies, under the name "wagons-lits cook". The quality of this ashtray is a witness to the luxury and prestige which surrounded the first travelers who embarked on these long crossings at the time. This is a rare piece that will delight collectors but also simply train lovers... Or smokers! Diameter 15 cm, height 2 cm, weight 700 gr.
