He was a student at the boule school and then at the national school of decorative arts. He worked as a decorator but abandoned this activity in 1953. With his wife thérèse and four children, they lived in paris, saint-malo and sens before returning between paris and saint-suliac in the saint-malo region. In the 50s it is part of "lyrical abstraction" and is presented and defended by michel tapié and charles estienne. After the gallery of france he exhibited at the ariel gallery of jean pollak and evolved towards what some call "new figuration" or "expressive figuration" or "other figuration". Gillet tells him that he essentially "tyrannized the portrait", but he also addressed other subjects: cities, still lifes, storms...
