Part of an old alfenide cutlery set with the BI monogram, from the Charles Halphen silversmiths, alfenide hallmarks and goat's head ch 84. Alfenide, also called white metal, is an alloy of copper, zinc, iron and nickel that the Halphen brothers made known in 1850. This factory was bought by Chistofle in 1880. Composed of: 10 forks, 12 soup spoons, 9 teaspoons, 6 dessert spoons, 6 dessert forks, 1 sauce spoon and 1 cream spoon, in excellent condition.
