Pair of Méribel chairs by Charlotte Perriand, designed in the 1940s to furnish the ski resort of Méribel in the French Alps. An iconic design by Charlotte Perriand, these chairs were also found in her own chalet, which she began building in 1960 on the land the town gave her in exchange for her work. They are offered here in their purest form, made of untreated ash wood. The ash structure consists of four log legs connected by an X-shaped stretcher, a curved backrest, and a seat made of straw. Manufacturer: Steph Simon from 1950. Bibliography: Charlotte Perriand, The Complete Works vol. 3, 1956-1968, Jacques Barsac, Éditions NORMA, p. 336.
