Oval serving dish stamped wh Grindley & co. (Staffordshire, England), "English Country Inns" series. Vintage from the 1980s, a time when 19th century English transferware enjoyed a major comeback. Fine English earthenware of the 'ironstone' type. Decor in blue monochrome on cream white: "the Radnorshire Arms" (which still exists, in Presteigne in Wales) finely detailed in a rural context, marli with floral motifs, twist in relief on the border. The dish is hollow in the center. In excellent condition: no accidents, no traces of use or friction. A superb piece in all its glory. Dimensions: L 37 cm (34 cm without handles), W 29.5 cm.
