Wilhelm pfau (c.1920 bad durkheim – c.2015) -- “untitled” -- 1960 -- mixed media on paper, framed -- dated bottom right; inscribed/dedicated and signed with presentation date on verso -- 205 × 142 mm|8 × 5 1/2 in (image area) -- 385 × 298 mm|15 1/8 × 11 5/8 in (sheet size) -- ---- exquisite abstract composition of feathery organic forms, with ink, pastel and coloured pencil marks delicately highlighted with strokes of white gouache. A very special work by a mysterious but highly original artist reminiscent of klee, kandinsky and gorky.
