Bring a touch of Mediterranean warmth and authenticity to your interior with this magnificent glazed ceramic lamp base, topped with its original shade. This piece is an original creation by the artisan ceramist Jean Bertron, who was based in Biot Village (a famous pottery village in the South of France). The original workshop label is still perfectly preserved and attached inside the base, and a handwritten workshop signature is visible under the base. The ceramic base takes on a very elegant urn or bulbous jar shape. It stands out with its glossy glaze in a superb terracotta/deep orange colour with subtle reflections, typical of Provençal earthenware. It is sold here with its large beige conical shade featuring raised leaf patterns, providing a soft and diffused light. You can certainly choose to modernise it later with a contemporary cylindrical shade in linen or raffia. Condition: Ceramic: Excellent overall condition. The glaze is very shiny, smooth, and shows no chips, cracks, or nicks. Shade: In good used condition, the fabric is sound and well-stretched. Electricity: Functional period electrical system, white cable with original switch and plug. Standard socket.
