Set of 12 lion-head soup bowls with a pretty vegetable design. They are made of extra-hard ovenproof porcelain, Pyrolux range by Lorioux France (I believe they are oven-safe, allowing you to brown the soup, but this needs to be verified). I don't know when they date from; I would guess the 70s or 80s. I haven't found much information about this porcelain manufacturer from Berry, except for one incredible anecdote: among the first pieces recovered from the Titanic after the wreck was discovered, divers found intact porcelain dishes made by Lorioux! These bowls are in generally good condition; eight are in perfect condition, two have minor original flaws: a small chip in the decoration on one and a slightly less smooth, perhaps less glazed (very barely visible) rim along the inside edge of one bowl; and finally, two have tiny chips on the inner rim (one chip on one and two on the other), invisible to the naked eye, barely perceptible to the touch. See close-up photos. The bowls also have original or other markings on their bases. These bowls measure 14 cm in width, including the handle, approximately 11.5 cm in maximum diameter, and 8.5 cm in height.
