A magnificent vintage foldable accordion magazine rack, masterfully crafted in Italy in the mid-20th century. This distinguished piece features a sculptural structure made of solid hardwood, adorned with a superb ebonised black patina. The design is distinguished by its classic work of turned spindles and bobbins, beautifully contrasted by original solid brass accent chains that define its elegant posture. With its geometric silhouettes that are both sleek and dramatic, this piece perfectly embodies the refined glamour of the Italian Mid-Century Modern and Hollywood Regency eras. It bears strong stylistic similarities to the iconic creations of Cesare Lacca and Ico Parisi. The wood has been firmly glued, professionally stabilised, and stained to blend with the dark patina. It is now 100% structurally sound and fully functional, but the repair line remains visible up close. General condition: Aside from the repaired spindle, this beautiful object remains in remarkable and robust vintage condition. The ebonised surface shows slight superficial scratches and small chips consistent with its age and authentic character. The brass hardware has been delicately revived, preserving its original warm and sophisticated patina. The delicate tapered legs have been fitted with discreet black rubber protective caps to preserve delicate floors.
