BUR - Bunte und Remmler F2811 Bauhaus Desk lamp - Christian Dell

Rare original vintage industrial bauhaus designer desk lamp - bur - model f2811 attributed to christian dell for bünte & remmler - 1930. Bünte und remmler was located in frankfurt and founded in 1880. It started as producer of petroleum lamps but in the beginning of the 1900's they evolved into manufacturing electric lighting. During 1920-1930 they are at the basis of the bauhaus movement with home desingers wilhelm wagenfeld, wolfgang tümpel, ferdinand kramer and most known christian dell. Christian dell was born in 1893 in germany in a little town offenbach am main situated close to frankfurt. After completing his studies and working as a silversmith in dresden he went to the “großherzoglich-sächsische kunstgewerbeschule in weimar. Now commenly known as the saxon college of arts and crafts where he met the belgian architects henry van de velde and victor horta. Later considered as one of the main founders of art nouveau. In 1926 he moved to frankfurt where he became director of the art school's metal workshop, as well as "master of forms". It is here that christian starts to design more lamps instead of forging silver. His breakthrough came when he started to design lamps for the lamp factory gebr. Kaiser & co in neheim hüsten. In 1948, after world war ii, christian dell opened a jeweller´s shop in wiesbaden where he mainly manufactured silver goods until 1955. He died in wiesbaden in 1974. Specs: Height: 43cm. Shade: ø14cm. Base: ø 19cm. In perfect working condition. Very litte signs of time & usage. No dents or visible scratches in the shade (bit of patina conform its age). On/off turn switch on the shade. A timeless industrial designer lamp that looks good in every interior.
