Elegant antique silver-plated ladle, model known as the plain fillet (or whalebone), made by the prestigious Maison Cailar-Bayard in Paris between 1890 and 1910. Hallmarks & Authenticity - METALLONIDE – base metal hallmark: high-end nickel silver used by Cailar-Bayard during the Belle Époque. - CB between a radiant sun number 10 – house mark (10 micron silver plating). - CAILAR & BAYARD PARIS long hallmark – maker’s signature. - Small square numbered 69 – worker’s number or internal batch. These hallmarks attest to a late 19th – early 20th century manufacture, prior to the acquisition by Christofle (1912).
