Abstract geometric composition signed LYMA, the artist name of Katharina Aeschliman (born in 1947). A Swiss artist listed in the auction market, she develops work focused on colour relationships, formal balances, and the construction of space, in line with the explorations of European abstraction in the second half of the 20th century. This oil on canvas features a composition constructed from interlocking geometric shapes whose contours overlap and respond to each other in a range of deep reds, oranges, browns, and blacks. The tension between the coloured masses, the absence of traditional perspective, and the subtle play of transparencies evoke certain explorations by Serge Poliakoff, while maintaining a personal style based on a more architecturally organised arrangement of planes. The whole exudes a strong visual presence, enhanced by the richness of the palette and the depth of the chromatic relationships.
