Refined pair of mirror wall sconces in gilded bronze in the Louis XVI style, attributed to the prestigious Maison Lucien Gau, a Parisian art bronzier founded in 1860 and renowned for its artisanal excellence. The house notably contributed to the restoration and creation of decorative elements for iconic places such as the Sainte-Chapelle, the Hôtel de Crillon, and the Château de Beychevelle. Each sconce features a bevelled oval mirror, delicately set with a beaded decoration. The whole is crowned with an elegant ribboned bow, while the lower part finishes with a motif of finely sculpted leaves. The two volute light arms, also adorned with foliage and beaded friezes echoing the mirror's frame, testify to a perfectly balanced composition, imbued with grace and delicacy. The whole accurately illustrates the craftsmanship of French art bronze from the late 19th century, where the quality of chiselling and decorative harmony combine with sophistication. No markings.
