Deeply padded seat and back sections are divided by sculptural tufting, while the rounded sides flow almost continuously into the broad seat. The low profile and generous depth give each module the character of an oversized lounge chair, while the richly textured rust upholstery emphasises the folds, volume and changing light across the surface. Arranged together, the three elements create a strong rhythmic composition while retaining their individual sculptural quality. Nuvolone translates roughly as “big cloud”, a fitting reference to the exaggerated, enveloping proportions of the design. Rino Maturi created the first version in 1970 for Mimo Leone & C., with period examples constructed around substantial foam-filled upholstered forms. Condition. Good vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its period.
