Magnificent curtain filing cabinet from La Poste (1920s/1930s).

Magnificent and large filing cabinet with curtains. Post office furniture recovered by a former employee upon his retirement. It is therefore a true piece of professional furniture, as evidenced by the rare remains of labels. This piece of furniture was part of a long row of identical pieces of furniture that were stuck together. The left side, at the end of the row, was visible and therefore finished according to the rules of the art. The right side, attached to another piece of furniture, reveals the superb pine structure of the piece of furniture. The curtains are made of rounded slats that give the impression of streaming when opened or closed. They work perfectly. Folding back on the back of the piece of furniture, and not around snails, they have remained in superb condition. They each have their original brass handle. The locks are at the bottom of the piece of furniture, in the lower plinth, with the very aesthetic brass keyholes. As the keys were lost, the locks were neutralized, so that the shutters would not remain in the closed position. On the other hand, the very aesthetic mechanisms were preserved. Inside, 14 lockers per column (28 in total, therefore)! All in solid pine, therefore very solid and supporting significant weights. Only one missing a few centimeters on a shelf (penultimate of the second column from the left). This does not prevent it from being functional and it is the only defect of these lockers. Nice little detail: there is a space of about twenty centimeters above the lockers, only accessible from the back of the furniture. Ideal for hiding your treasures! This is a rare model of the cardboard boxes of la poste, older than those that are more generally found and of a very beautiful quality. Its beautiful luminous patina, as well as its shallow depth will allow it to find a place in our interior. For shoes, files, clothes, books or 45 rpm records!
