A rare and beautifully proportioned pair of mid-century modern wingback chairs, Italy, circa 1950. The pair is upholstered in sumptuous camel-colored velvet and combines the characteristic design language of Paolo Buffa’s high-backed lounge chairs with the bold, bespoke craftsmanship typical of Gió Ponti’s iconic seating designs from the same era. An impressive example of Italian. Craftsmanship, distinguished by flawless geometry, original structural lines, and exceptional ergonomics. There is a 2mm stain on the seat of one of the armchairs.
