A rare and beautifully proportioned pair of modern mid-century wingback chairs, Italy, circa 1950. The pair is upholstered in sumptuous camel-coloured velvet and combines the characteristic design language of Paolo Buffa's high-backed chairs with the boldness and bespoke craftsmanship typical of Gió Ponti's iconic seating designs from the same period. An impressive example of Italian craftsmanship, distinguished by impeccable geometry, original structural lines, and exceptional ergonomics. There is a 2 mm stain on the seat of one of the chairs.
