This elegant Louis-Philippe period chest of drawers, dating from the mid-19th century, embodies the nobility of French craftsmanship. Made from carefully selected burr walnut, it features a sumptuous "butterfly wing" veneer, whose symmetrical pattern highlights the natural grains and waves of the wood with remarkable finesse. The cabinetmaker who designed it demonstrated great mastery: each veneer sheet was carefully selected, then arranged according to a rigorous pattern to obtain a result that is both harmonious and spectacular. The structure is assembled using mortise and tenon, a guarantee of solidity and durability, and the drawers are assembled with dovetails, in accordance with the great tradition of French cabinetmaking. The chest of drawers opens with five drawers: • an upper drawer with an ogee, discreetly integrated into the apron, • three spacious central drawers, • a secret drawer, subtly hidden in the lower plinth. The original keyholes are preserved, along with a working antique key. It rests on glider feet for excellent stability. The back of the piece is entirely made of solid wood, and no restoration has been carried out: it is presented in an exceptional state of preservation. The whole is topped with a superb Gris Saint-Anne marble, original and in perfect condition. This marble, with its delicate veins and subtle hue, creates an elegant contrast with the warmth of the walnut, highlighting the balanced proportions and refinement of the piece. Discovered in a beautiful home in the Loire Valley, this chest of drawers has been carefully passed down through the generations. Passed down with respect and love, it has been carefully maintained by descendants, and retains the imprint of a family memory. The drawers have been carefully cleaned and slide perfectly: the piece is ready for use. It will fit elegantly into any type of interior, whether classic or contemporary – in a bedroom, living room, dining room or office.
