Exceptional stoneware jug in glazed ceramic signed Doulton & Slaters Patent, dated 1884, belonging to the famous 'Silicon Ware' line patented by the Doulton factory in Lambeth. A rare collector's piece for enthusiasts of Victorian English antiques. Its slightly flared cylindrical body features a fully textured surface imitating lace, a distinctive signature of this patented line. The decoration, entirely applied by hand, is remarkably rich: chrysanthemums with radiating petals glazed in pale blue edged in brown, a vertical pattern of ferns in brown-purple adorned with beads, a branch of cherry blossoms in blue, and relief butterflies left unglazed for a striking material effect. The twisted and textured handle completes the elegance of the piece. The base bears the authentic printed mark 'Doulton & Slaters Patent', the Doulton Lambeth rosette mark, the year 1884, and its original model number – perfect traceability for the discerning collector. Only a slight chip on the upper rim is to be noted; the piece is otherwise in very good condition for its age, which is remarkable for a ceramic over 140 years old. Dimensions: H. 17.5 cm × W. 9 cm – Weight: 1 kg. A rare opportunity to enhance a collection of Victorian English ceramics or to elevate a characterful interior decoration.
