Folding teak table "model 4508" from mid-century Danish design by Fritz Hansen, 1950s. Or a teak side table. The removable circular top rests on a folding base. Stamped "f.h. Made in Denmark". Danish control. Height: 42 cm, width: 58 cm, diameter: 58 cm. (very good condition, very discreet repair on the top of one leg (see attached photo)) In 1872, cabinetmaker Fritz Hansen, originally from Nakskov, obtained a commercial license in Copenhagen. In 1885, he launched his own furniture production company and, two years later, established a thriving workshop in Christianshavn, in the centre of Copenhagen. Fritz and his son Christian initiated a high level of quality, marking Fritz Hansen products. From 1950 to 1959, Svend Åge Willumsen and Hans Engholm worked as cabinetmakers for Fritz Hansen, designing this tea table in 1957 for the firm's employees. Due to its success, it was widely produced. They thus emancipated themselves from their work as cabinetmakers to establish themselves as talented designers.
