Ashtray with lid in the shape of a beetle in gilt bronze

Period: ca. 1950s-1970s this gilded bronze scarab is a fun and decorative object in its own right, even if you don't use it as an ashtray. The head serves as a hinge and the tail as a handle to lift the upper half of the body. The six feet have beautiful details; this piece is of better quality than most of the models we generally see. It is certainly gilded bronze as opposed to brass and the gilding is still very much present inside and below. Condition: good. No damage. Thinning of the gilding especially on the upper half. Dimensions: 13 cm long, 10.5 cm wide with legs, 5 cm high.
