A cushion cover entirely hand-embroidered with pure silk threads by artisans from Kashmir. Its uniqueness lies in its deep indigo blue background, a rare colour in this textile tradition, which is better known for its garnet red backgrounds. On this nocturnal sky unfolds an all-over floral composition: large saffron ochre and sky blue flowers, a central eight-pointed star medallion, and a garnet red border adorned with flowers. The motif is inspired by Mughal floral compositions, those paradisiacal gardens that emperors had embroidered on their court textiles. The silk gives the whole piece a silky and shimmering brilliance that reveals itself differently depending on the light. The technique used is Aari embroidery, done with a crochet hook on an ecru cotton canvas. Each piece requires dozens of hours of manual work and constitutes a unique artisan object. This cover naturally finds its place in a bohemian, Indo-chic, or contemporary interior, placed on an ecru linen sofa, a vintage velvet armchair, or a bed with natural materials, adding depth and character.
