This rare, original dining table was designed by agner christoffersen for the danish manufacture n.c. Christoffersen in 1948 - in the period when danish modernism was just beginning. It is a universal and timeless design from the beginning of the mid-century modern era. The table is made of high-quality brazilian rosewood in a chestnut shade of brown. It is characterized by rich and interesting grain. There is a steel inlay around the top and on the legs. The table has three additional tops made of poplar wood. When unfolded, table reaches 275 cm. The table surprises with its large, as well as the elegance and aesthetics of the design. Created to complement the art of good living, because scandinavian design is also a specific way of living, not just a design style. Agner christoffersen (1907 - 1993) was a danish architect and designer. He started as a carpenter and then studied architecture at the royal danish academy of fine arts in copenhagen. In 1928 he was employed by the copenhagen city planning board and later became its chief architect from 1966-75. In the 1940s and 1950s he worked as a consultant to the architects vilhelm lauritzen and hoffa I windinge on projects such as the town hall in gladsaxe, højskolen marielyst, the bagsværd school and the gymnasium in herning. The table is in original vintage condition. It has minor traces of age. Each additional top is 50 cm. It can reach 175 cm, 225 cm and 275 cm by adding additional elements.
