Kokeshi Creative, Japanese doll made of vintage wood, Kokeshi flower by Tanaka Shigemi

This lovely wooden kokeshi doll was made by tanaka shigemi or 'kojo' who won several kokeshi competitions. Named "a dream of spring", it is hand-painted and displays a serene and peaceful expression. She wears a kimono with an elegant plum blossom pattern. The plum blossom "ume" represents rebirth, strength and tenacity, as it blooms during the still cold month of february while there is still snow. In this sense, it is also linked to the birth of love and its transformations.
