Geometric town. Size: 41 X 49 cm (including frame) Oil on board. A lively and very striking mid-century modernist townscape, executed in oil onto board. Painted in a semi-abstract manner, the artist has skilfully reconstructed and simplified this town into blocks of contrasting colours. Each block has been highlighted with thick black outlines that delineate the architectural forms and contours of the townscape. The composition is characterised by rich colours, with predominantly white, black, and grey tones with hints of orange and green that add bursts of vibrancy amidst the restrained tones. Expressive and painterly brushstrokes have been very confidently executed, adding a dynamic quality and conveying the energetic presence of the town. This oil on board is housed in a gilt frame with an inner linen lining that suits the painting perfectly. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very minor scuffs. Please note that there is some glare visible in the photographs, particularly in the close ups.
