Traditional basket

This rustic container was made more than a hundred years ago to measure and preserve a rice dou, an ancient chinese measure. Handmade, the receptacle features gracefully curved flanks and a polished crossbar after years of use. Great care was taken to join the edges of the dovetail measurement, a solid, durable and aesthetic assembly technique that allows two perpendicular surfaces to be interlocking. These joins were then reinforced by iron parts to ensure optimal protection of the object from damage. This measure has aged wonderfully thanks to this painstaking work. It can now be used as a decorative object in its own right, but it is also a perfect storage accessory.
