Jug Villeroy & Boch Mettlach 1562 Old Strasbourg

Large villeroy & boch mettlach jug, model 1562 "alt strassburg / vieux strasbourg". Stamped (green stamp) "villeroy & boch / 7 / mettlach / made in sarre / 1562" and (debossed) "1" (size/format). Villeroy & boch reissued this model in the 1980s (brown stamp); this is a piece from the original series produced in the 1950s. Floral decoration (tulip and rose on one side, peony in bloom on the other) ecru background, forest green lines. Fine half-porcelain earthenware. Beautiful quality in very good condition: no accidents; except for a very small jump in the enamel on the back of the lid (see detail photo), no trace of use or rubbing, shiny enamel, bright colors. Dimensions: height 23 cm (at the fretel), volume 2 liters.
