Vintage brass shell dish, soap holder.

Vintage object made of heavy solid brass. It can be used as a catch-all or a soap dish. It can also serve for jewellery, as a small display for bath salts, or as a decorative support for any other small everyday items. Dating from the 1950s to 1970s, inspired by neo-classical and Napoleonic III motifs, it belongs to those versatile flea market items sought after for their charm and utility. There is a lovely chiselling work inside the shell, with marked grooves and a more textured relief in certain areas. The surface has a mixed finish, being smooth in some parts and slightly grainy in others. The pieces have been cleaned of their verdigris and oxidised patina, restoring their shine and charm while preserving the nuances related to time and use. They rest on two discreet small feet under the base. On one of the pieces, one foot is missing, which does not affect stability or use. The tip is one of the distinctive elements of the model: it forms a recognisable visual signature, reminiscent of tap heads or high-end bathroom shelf fittings from the early century.
