Delightful cure Majorelle. Plateau and stoiste marked with flowers and leaves. Fluted feet, undulating line very elegant and typical of Art Nouveau. Taking up the lines of his iconic "Nenuphar" guerrilla, Louis Majorelle (1859 - 1926) proposes here a pedestal where the play of light on the marquetry offer a virtuoso contrast with the mouldings structuring the furniture, evoking a dripping waves. The lily-leaf-shaped tray and brace are representative of this Art Nouveau, of which Majorelle is a staunch defender as well as one of its emblematic figures in France and abroad. The disastrous fire that destroyed the workshops of the Cabinetmaker in 1916 did not spare any room; our pedestal is thus a rare witness to the work of Louis Majorelle who, after the war, slowly resumed his creative activities trying without conviction to blend in with the Taste Art Deco, without yet reaching the talent that animated his achievements before the terrible fire.
