Adjustable work lamp, design by Marianne Brandt for Kandem Leuchten, Germany, circa 1930-1935. A major figure of the Bauhaus, Brandt designed a series of functional lamps with multiple joints for Kandem, now preserved in the collections of MoMA and the Met. Triple articulation: ball joint at the base, ball joint at the head, central rotation. Grey enamelled metal reflector, grey painted steel tube structure, rotary switch on the reflector, original ball joint cast iron screws. Kandem brand confirmed by the manufacturer's screw present on the piece. Usable for wall mounting (4 screws) or on a base. Used condition, waxed metal. Functional wiring. H 75 cm — W 16 cm — D 60 cm.
