This so-called "Joker" armchair was designed by French designer Olivier Mourgue, also a professor at the Beaux Arts in Paris. The Joker armchair, released in 1959, is his first collaboration with the furniture manufacturer Airborne. It has a spring steel frame with a cantilever principle, highly polished and chromed. The seat is made of a rubber belt covering with a fabric insert, and leather cushions attached to the frame by a spiral spring. The leather stitching is done in noble piping. The buttons are made of genuine leather. This is a rare model that will look great in a mid-century living room. Condition Good overall condition. The cushions are in original leather and have no snags, the foams are not sagging, the chrome and seat straps are in good condition. The defects to be noted are: - the seat cushion is no longer attached by a spiral fastener to the structure. - some metal fixing buttons are missing on the feet (see photos) but this has no impact on the solidity of the structure.
