This 3-seater sofa/daybed 'model 470' was created in 1964 by Swiss architect Hans Bellmann and produced by Wilkhahn in Germany. The design of this grey 3-seater sofa is remarkable with its organic backrest supports and a system that allows the seat to fold forward, thus creating a comfortable daybed. The elegant simplicity, commitment to high-quality materials, functional form, and rejection of any superfluous decoration make model 470 a key example of Swiss modernism in furniture design. The dark grey boucle upholstery on the seat, as in the original design in a muted shade, was renewed a few years ago. The lighter backrest upholstery shows more signs of wear on one corner. The dark teak frame is entirely original and in very good condition, as shown in the photos.
