Born in 1586, the glassworks of m.a. Became in 1767 "royal glassworks" by letters patent of king louis XV and became st. Louis. The factory devoted itself in 1829 to the sole production of crystal. In a trend of creativity that characterized the beginning of the 20th century with art nouveau and art deco, many designers brought their talent to st. Louis. Artists such as paul nicolas, jean sala, jean luce, michel colle and maurice dufrêne, to name a few. Saint-louis has been part of the hermès group since 1995. The vase offered for sale is signed jean sala. It is in good general condition even if it has some traces of wear inside the vase and a few small strokes on the outside.
