Very beautiful glazed stoneware pitcher made by Roger Jacques (1920-2001), a potter from Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, in Nièvre. This piece features an elegant baluster silhouette, with a generously rounded body, a narrowed waist, and a wide, slightly flared neck. A side handle with smooth lines complements this harmonious shape. Its remarkable glazing combines deep shades of purple-red, burgundy, and violet with subtle drip effects and crystallizations. The variations in texture and the reflections of the glaze add beautiful depth to the whole. Roger Jacques (1920-2001) comes from an old lineage of potters from Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, whose craftsmanship has been passed down for several centuries. The son of Albert Jacques, he trained very young in throwing before perfecting his knowledge of glazes. He continued the family business in the former pottery of sculptor and ceramist Paul Jeanneney, acquired by his father in 1922. Committed to the traditions of Puisaye stoneware, he also developed an artistic production, placing significant importance on research into forms and glazes. Roger Jacques is referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye, de Jean Carriès à nos jours – Marques et signatures, " dedicated to the history of potters and ceramists in the region. A beautiful collectible piece, representative of the craftsmanship of Puisaye potters and particularly decorative due to the richness of its glazing. Dimensions: Height: 26 cm. Diameter: 14 cm. Condition: perfect condition.
