Bread basket

A panetière is a type of openwork cabinet, usually suspended, used to store bread. Regional furniture, the most beautiful and original panetières are those from provence. The panetière on a stand is placed on a low sideboard or often hung against a wall to be out of reach of rats and mice. Embellished with turned wooden columns, to allow air circulation and better preservation of loaves of bread. Turned bars. Period late 18th century.
