RS Associates from Montreal was a major name in the Canadian design world in the 1950s and 1960s. They were masters at translating the modern, sleek Danish style to the North American living room. While many factories switched to mass production at the time, RS Associates remained true to real craftsmanship and high-quality woods. Because the company mainly focused on its own market at the time, their furniture is a rare sight on the European mainland. This particular piece has had a special journey: the table was brought to Germany by a Canadian soldier when he was stationed there. After several moves and years of loyal service, it was time for a new chapter, making this unique piece now available in Europe. The coffee table itself is a beautiful example of their style: slim, elegant, and with that typical 'Mid-Century' look. The top is nicely elongated and has refined, slanted edges, making it almost appear to float. The legs taper downwards, giving the table its characteristic airy look. Although there are some light signs of use here and there that match the age and rich history of the furniture, these are never disturbingly present.
