The ait bou sbaa carpet, from the ouled bou sbaa tribe, “bousbaa” which means “lion” in arabic, is a nomadic tribe living in morocco and mauritania, as well as in western sahara. They trade from senegal to marrakech. The most recently arrived tribe in the region claims a chorfa origin. Their traditional history was important in the mauritanian tribal landscape and their amazing one-of-a-kind rugs have gained more wealth and power in recent years.
