Antique Charles X fireplace Paolo Moschini '800 ebony elm

Charles X fireplace entirely veneered in elm burl, Lombardy, third decade of the 19th century. Attributed to the production of Paolo Moschini, a skilled marquetry artist and cabinetmaker active between Soncino, his hometown, and Milan in the first half of the 19th century. The façade features an architrave and projecting plinths, connected by double finely fluted columns adorned with gilded wooden capitals, the upper ones sculpted with friezes and acanthus leaves. The edges of the base and architrave are filleted in amaranth, with the profiles of the columns filleted in ebony. Central mercury mirror set in the frame.
