Illums Bolighus

Illums bolighus is a chain of danish department stores dedicated to the home. The façade of its main store in the heart of copenhagen was designed by kay kørbing in 1961, a renowned danish architect. The company was founded in 1925 by kaj dessau under the name bo. Together with art consultant brita drewen, she invented the concept of a store where furnished interiors interact with art. This approach was exceptionally innovative for the time. Illums bolighus now has stores in norway, sweden and germany.
