Ewers Rouen XXth

Two ewers of 37cm and 40cm with hand-painted decoration "in the style of" and in rouen. Developed in the 17th century in rouen, this style is inspired by the so-called "grotesque" decorations of the italian renaissance. In the 18th century, with the fashion for "chinoiseries", the rouen decoration became oriental. On these two ewers, we can see the traditional motifs: palmettes, lambrequins, acanthus leaves. Judging by the brushstroke and the pigmentation, this is certainly a 20th century work. The handle of the smaller one has been glued back on (very discreet, see photo) and the two ewers have been cleaned by me.
