Some designs need little explanation. One look and you see that form, material and comfort are in balance. The Wave F773 by Artifort is such a chair. The armchair was designed in 1985 by Peter van der Ham for Artifort, the Dutch brand known for its progressive design and high-quality production. The shape of the chair is strikingly fluid. Seat, back and armrests seem to be formed from a single movement, giving the chair its characteristic wave shape. Under this soft line is a ribbed metal base that acts almost as an architectural foundation for the design. The contrast between the organic seat and the graphic base gives the chair a distinctly postmodern character. A design strongly connected to the design culture of the 1980s, futuristic yet comfortable and inviting. This example is finished in the original black leather. In our workshop, the armchair has been carefully cleaned and the leather has been reconditioned so that it feels supple again. The chair is ready for a new chapter. The Wave F773 combines beautifully with Memphis and postmodern design, but also works surprisingly well in an interior with mid-century or space age influences. Sometimes the most beautiful tension arises where different styles meet. Height 96 cm, width 81 cm, depth 78 cm, seat height 40 cm.
