Ibiza oil and canvas painting by j.masia valenciano/balearic artist. Spanish painter, caricaturist and journalist, creator of calvito for cd valencia, specialized in sports and commercial drawing, his professional beginnings were made in the pages of el mercantil valenciano, creating drawings and caricatures of personalities of the time, notably politicians. In 1936 he was expelled from the newspaper due to his conservative ideology and ended up in prison during the final stage of the Spanish Civil War. After the war, he joined the editorial staff of the Levante newspaper, as a cartoonist and sports editor. In addition to his employment at "levante", masiá collaborated with various sports publications, such as the famous magazine "torneo" (1944), in which he drew a weekly vignette. Before the war, he had collaborated, under a pseudonym, with a similar magazine, "la hora deportiva". On the other hand, masiá actively collaborated with the vcf. Not only did he paint the "calvito" mural at the club's headquarters, but he also designed both the cd cuenca crest - which would later become that of the mestalla - and the official 1944 calendar. From 1946, he devotes himself to painting. After his death in his hometown, Requena, a street was dedicated to him, "pintor juan masiá".
