This still life reproduction of flowers painted by jan brueghel the elder is entitled "large bouquet of flowers in a wooden bucket" (1606-1607, vienna, kunsthistorisches museum) represents the kind of Flemish flower still life of the seventeenth century. It is a bouquet of cut flowers standing out against a rather dark background. This composition has been reproduced over and over again for hundreds of years on multiple media. Here, the reproduction must date from the 60s/70s, it is painted on a panel of raw wood. On the other hand, the painter boldly ignores the succession of seasons by representing side by side flowers that are never flowered simultaneously in nature. A small hook on the back makes it easy to hang. Very nice vintage condition.
